Life Lately: March & April 2020

Julie Leah monthly recap things to do in quarantine
(All photos taken by me)

I wanted to kick off the week with a little recap of what's been happening around here lately. March completely got away from me! Much like everyone else, my world has been flipped on its head, and I've had to make some significant adjustments. Everything feels new and different, and I've actually (surprisingly) been handling it really well. I don't say that to brag but to simply acknowledge that this is new for me and anxiety hasn't been my go-to lately - winning! During this time, I encourage you to celebrate every little win that  you get!

This time has pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit and has gotten my creative juices flowing. As I've mentioned several times on my instagram stories, I'm a enneagram 3 and having a goal that I'm working toward is necessary for me. Even if it's just something small. I've been doing a really good job with self care lately and not taking on too much, while still being able to mark things off a checklist (so satisfying!). I shared a full post on self care during the pandemic here. This is new for all of us, and however you choose to cope (as long as it isn't harmful) is okay.

Below is my list of "what I..." for March and the first part of April. As always, you can keep up what's happening day-to-day over on instagram! Enjoy!

**

WHAT I DID:
I've still been going into work three days a week. Our school buildings are closed for the remainder of the year but they're open for faculty and staff Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I've also been doing some craft projects - tie dyingbracelet making, and this adorable Dolly DIY. I've zhushed up my home decor quite a bit over the last few weeks. Nothing drastic just added some new shelves and decor in my bedroom, new art in my living room, and changed things up in my bathroom. Doing those few things has helped my mental state tremendously during this time.

WHAT I WATCHED:
Like most of us, I've spent a lot of time watching TV over the last few weeks. Here's the run down: I finished New Girl, binged Tiger King, watched season 3 of Ozark, finished all the seasons of The Good Place on Netflix, watched lots of Disney movies, and rewatched some episodes of Gilmore Girls and Schitt's Creek.

WHAT I BOUGHT:
I've done a lot of online shopping during quarantine. You may have caught my unboxing last week on my instagram story. I've made quite a few Disney-related purchases, I bought a new Free People top that I can't wait to wear this summer, and I scooped up a new straw bag. I placed my first Stoney Clover Lane order yesterday which I'm super excited about! And I finally pulled the trigger on a phone tripod so I can capture more of my own photos for the blog and instagram.

WHAT INSPIRED ME:
The politicians making smart decisions for their state (looking at you, Andrew Cuomo). And, of course, health care workers risking their lives every day to be real life heroes. Also, Glennon Doyle's new book, Untamed. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's amazing and packed with inspiration.

WHAT I DID FOR SELF CARE:
Bracelet making definitely tops the list! But also discovering a great at-home manicure option! At the suggestion of my best friend, I purchased some Dashing Diva nail polish strips last week. This was my first experience with any polish strips, and I'm hooked! I found mine at Walmart but you can browse the full line on their website.

MOST LOVED IG POST:
My friend, Kristie, captured this photo when I was at their house one evening. This sweet girl is Ellie and I just love her to pieces and clearly y'all did too!

THANKFUL FOR:
Health (mental and physical) // Friends who take care of each other even from a distance

xo, Julie
