I HeART D.C.

Last weekend I had the best time visiting the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery in D.C. These galleries are housed in the same building with a beautiful, bright atrium in the middle, and unlike most Smithsonians, you can get through these in just a couple hours!

These two museums are so fun for browsing and conversation and taking photos. There are several exhibits in the American Art Museum that are interactive and offer awesome photo ops. One of my favorite mural artists, Kelsey Montague (remember the Taylor Swift butterfly mural?!), created a gorgeous black and white mural on one of the walls in SAAM that you can't miss if you visit! It's a little hidden but a guide will point you in the right direction. Of course, the Obama portraits are incredibly popular and there's usually always a line (big or small) for photos. The lighting in both spaces is terrible but I still demanded a pic - lol. On the day we visited it was surprisingly uncrowded which does make the experience more enjoyable. Below are a few photos from around the museums and I added my own little bit of creativity :) Enjoy!
