We found out last night that my aunt (my mom's brother's wife) has breast cancer. We don't know many details at this point, but please pray.

She is scheduling a scan today to see if the cancer is anywhere else in her body. She will have surgery in the coming weeks and radiation and chemo.
This is not the first time that my family has been devastated by the 'c' word, but it doesn't make it any easier.
It was about this time last year that my mom's brother was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away back in the winter.
Just keep my family, and especially my aunt's daughters (my cousins) in your prayers. Remember my cousin Sara's wedding I went to back in June? It's her mama.

ReplyDeleteOh Julie this just brought me to tears. I'm so sorry to hear this, but I can offer encouragement - my bf the Chef's mom had breast cancer pretty badly almost 10 years ago and she survived and has been healthy ever since. His uncle's wife did too. It can be done.

Definitely sending up prayers for your aunt and your whole family! It's amazing the advancements that have been made with cancer--particularly breast cancer--so she's definitely got a shot at being just fine! Last year I did the 60 mile breast cancer walk, and it was absolutely amazing to see all those women, the survivors, being so strong and walking 60 miles in solidarity for those who can't be so strong. My aunt had breast cancer last year, but they found it and treated it soon enough and she's clean as a whistle now. Thinking of your auntie and all of you!
