What's in a Name (Brown Eyed Belle edition)

What is in a name? What does it say about us? When you look at me do you think 'she looks like a Julie?' Do you like your name or not?

Better yet, what does our blog name say about us? Since this is where most of us have met one another and formed these wonderful relationships, I think it's interesting to know the reason behind the names.

Some people's names seem obvious. They make sense. But some make you wonder. However, once explained it makes total sense.

So, how did I come up with my name you ask? Well, it wasn't easy. I thought and I thought until my head hurt a little. Then it just hit me. Of course! That's perfect. But why? Why is it perfect? Let's break it down...

Brown Eyed
Yes, clearly this is because I have brown eyes. However, I often find that us brown eyed ladies get pushed aside, because of our commonality. And I will be the first to admit that I have been jealous of some blue and green eyes in my time. But I have come to love my eyes and don't consider them so average anymore. They are me. I wouldn't be 'Julie' without them. Not to mention I have my own song, "You, my brown eyed girl, do you remember when, we used to sing....."

(It's true!)

Belle
I love being from the South. I love the culture and the accents and traditions that go along with where I come from. I know many of my fellow southern ladies feel the same way. Even if I moved out of the South I would still identify as southern. I think that wherever you call home, you probably consider it part of you. Well, the same for me. So, this part of me had to be a part of my blog.

(But I promise you won't see me in one of those)

What makes us choose these names? For me it was two things that I consider to be part of me, part of who I am, it felt right.

Where did your inspiration come from for your bloggy?

When I started my blog it was going to be a place to show my creations and such...the things I was making, I was in love with & voile, Lacey in Love. Then I started opening the blog up to my life & the title really just kind of made even more sense at that point. I'm constantly in love with something or someones!
& it seems like people must remember it, because while some people end up on my blog because of VERY RANDOM search words, most of them are actually searching just for me, Lacey in Love :)

I yam what I yam...a suburban princess! For me it was a no brainer - a blog about my life (well, snippits of it!) :O)

What I find hard to sort out is when people's screen names are different from their blog names - I can never keep them all straight!

I started my blog just before travelling home to New Orleans for Jazzfest. I had not been home for three four months at the time and was missing it more than ever. So I thought if this blog was about me, there was no more fitting title that I'm a NOLA Girl. New Orleans is not where I'm from, it is who I am.

PS - I'm going to do my fun picture post today!!

Mine's pretty straight to the point likt yours..

Simplicity in Baltimore.

I was born and raised in Baltimore and have lived in this county my whole life but have also experienced Baltimore City (I know, it's weird that there's a Baltimore County and a Baltimore City lol) I'm a pretty simple girl, doesn't take too many things to make my happy. So I put the two things together and came up with Simplicity in Baltimore.

I feel so much more close to you! :)

Hi, I'm Golden Stilettos and I'm a Shoe-a-holic! {Which explains the 'Stilettos' part of my name}

Golden?? Why Golden you ask??

There once was a boy who left his mark on my heart... he was {is} special to me and has added to who I am today. He will remain unnamed but I will tell you he was a boxer. I supported him through his fights in the GOLDEN Gloves.

GOLDEN + STILETTOS = Golden Stilettos!

Nice to meet you! xoxo

I love how you explained your blog title. Such a cute name. Mine is just my most favorite things: Lavender, Leopard, and Lace. Turns out they all start with an "l"! Have a fabulous Saturday!

I love this post! (I'm a brown eyed girl, too, Julie! And I love it!)

In all honesty, I wanted my name to be in my blog title, so I turned to my trusted friend, Google, to assist me. I typed in "words with the letters a-l-y. I got oodles of words. It took me about a day or two to decide. And 'analyze this' just came about. I'm a very detail-oriented, mildly OCD, thinker kind of girl! It's suiting!

What a fun idea!

Well, my URL is littledaisymay because of my sweet little Daisy!

Then I titled my blog This Kind of Love because that was mine and my hubby's first dance song :)

Don't be jealous of us blue eyed girls - I have always wished there was a song about us. I'm jealous everytime I hear "Brown Eyed Girl!" Grass is always greener I guess. :)

My name is pretty self explanatory as well. I write about our lives - and at this point, I feel like we are learning so many valuable life lessons - getting married, buying a house, taking care of our "babies", just learning to be adults. I'm young, would like to think I'm fabulous and definitely newlywed. So my blog can be considered a surivial guide for those who are trying to make it through life just like me!! :)

Love this post - such a great idea! I might have to share mine as well.

I love hearing how other people came up with their blog names. Mine took me a long time and I'm still not 100% in love with it. I had issues naming my blog because I wasn't sure what kind of blog it was going to be - I wanted to put some personal things out there but I also wanted to document some silly frivolous things. I got the idea of "AnonymousPrep" after seeing a photo of me with huge black sunglasses in a pink and navy top and it all spiralled from there. The "Adventure" part was because I knew my blog title needed focus but I wanted the biggest umbrella possible.

Oh girl, thank you so much for your sweet comment!

I absolutly love this idea for a post- picking a blog name is nerve racking! So, I stuck with why I decided to blog... to write down all that inspires me!

I have always, always, always wanted brown eyes. I think brown eyes are beautiful!!

Love the story behind the name... my blog name just kinda came to me. I didn't think too long or hard about it. I just knew I wanted to blog about random things that make me happy. I don't like to wait for life to be just right... I try to go out and make things happen each day to smile about. So it seemed like it worked.

I love the story! I too have brown eyes (though they are light) and I just love how they change colors with what I wear.

I started my blog to chronicle life with my Cavalier, Spencer. He has soooo many harnesses, sweaters, coats, etc and since they are all preppy the name seemed obvious. :-)
